Race Modified Cars In GT5
So far out of the 1,000 plus cars in Gran Turismo 5 there is only 17 that can be race modified. To save people the torment of slow load screens to check all of your cars, I decided to make a list including pictures, before and after specs, tunes, prices for the stock car, and race modification price. Some of the horsepower and torque specs may be off by a few (the dealership compared to the garage sometimes is off by a few Hp). For the highest Hp always change the oil when you buy a car, even from the dealership.
Once they are modified all cars will come painted white, so if you choose to paint the car another color you will have to pay for that as well ($2000-$6000). Most cars also benefit from visiting the tuning shop after being RM'd. Most of the cars can still use engine and turbo upgrades.
If anyone has better tuning for a specific car please leave a comment so I can update this article.

WITH YOU SETTINGS!
Yes it can because I beat it you just have to fool around with the driving options.
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C6) '09
is the best by which u can win epert series races easly by making changes in transmission max speed. very nice car
Thanks for sharing this and the other coloring pages. i think your theme on kids bedroom decoration is just great!
Nice
Just noticed Chevrolet Camaro SS '10 says before Race Mod 426HP,after Race Mod 170HP. I assume this is a typo or does Race Mod actually drop the HP on this car?
The Cappuccino with the modification is great. It's a lot of fun to drive with only minor upgrades to the exhaust and the level 1 turbo. You can add a few tweaks to suspension depending on how free you like your car.
What's great about this car is that you can enter it in a very large number of races at the beginning of the game.
I have that Suzuki, boosted to just over 100bhp and it's still not much fun as a drivers car, though reasonably quick. Have also got one of the Lotus cars, again not as much fun as say the motorsport elise, though it is quicker (just) than a tricked motorsport - I'd say spend the money on a motorsport elise.
The ZR1, nice car, I've won a lot of races with that.
And, tonight it'll be 69 Camero time, that's a beautiful race car. Cheers for info/article.
They are awesome, nice hub :)
I guessed as much but thought i'd point it out. Thanks
The 5.6 million credit Citroen also appears to be race modifiable. Won one in one of the events, and it has a number that can be changed like the other cars. Also raced against a Zonda LM? and it also had the tell tale rectangular number. I don't know if those cars come out of the box race modified or not? But I don't think this list is complete...
i just about now got all d rm cars and its best if you get the car do the race mods and then tune it because it will give u the right amount of power if u tune it and then do the race mods you loose power
Specs after Race Mod for ZR1

To be honest, I tried using the setup for the ZR1, and I found it to be horrible simply because the car just LOVES to oversteer, and every time I tried to fix it, it would understeer. I was able to nail a low 1:15 on Laguna Seca (currently my fastest time), and I'm still working on the tune. But for now, I'm leaving Skid Recovery On until my sanity leaves me again and I attack the ZR1 tune :P
nice work on this page, though. I'm glad I found something that had every car with race mods.
The ZR1 stock settings and playing with transmission were enough for me to win both Like the Wind Races using the dual shock in about an hour and a half to 2 hours. Mind you I am not an expert player. Maybe reset to stock settings and finagle the tranny?
Oh, and you MUST be on manual for the Indy race. I did little if any breaking, simply geared down to 4th(?) during tightish truns.
well if your zr1 understeer, lower the front but not to much. i lowered the front by 10 and the back 0.
camber front 2.5 and toespoor 0.20 back 2.0 toespoor 0.20 (std).
i drive on nurburgring nordschleife a 5:57,9** :D.
wel thx for the list :) and hope that psn get back online soon.
ps. sorry for my english
And I'd also like to praise the folks at Gran Turismo for keeping the nostalgic look of the Camaro Z28 and the Challenger R/T, even with racing mods. Still has that classic muscle car feel, y'know?
Thanks a bundle, list really helps. I got the NSX, Elise 111R, Camaro Z/28, and Camaro Race Mods. If you'd like, anyone reading this can friend me on PSN, using the username above, repeated that's mulletcody100. Thanks again! p.s. I'm a great racer, trader, and have a good eye for quick cars!
hey all my race modded cars are white
why did u suggest lowing the car to counter understeer. lowering the center of gravity will promote understeer, you should soften up the spring rate in the rear or raise the vehicle up to help negate the condition.
•Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C6) '09 relly good car i love it its the bomb
really good hub, love the game, cheers mate, keep up the good work
That Tuscan looks fit, got the cappucino which is a great car, and the camaro 69' is so classy. awesome hub, keep going.
Great call on the ZR1 RM tune. This is honestly the first time I've ever sought out other people's tuning specs for ANY Gran Turismo. Literally took me only 3-4 tries on the Indy Like the Wind event after dialing in your specs. It's sad (and quite obvious) that the majority of people posting on here know very little about how the actual settings change the behavior of the cars though (which is also why online play is completely uninteresting to me). As for myself, I generally have no interest in the hyper-fast cars and am more interested in modding the more realistically attainable production cars. Again, many thanks my friend.
does race modding the 69' Camero get rid of the gov'nr on it?
the corvette can compete and win BOTH of the like the wind races, with the downforce settings full at the front and reear of the car
done them both first time
nice this will definatley help to get the trophie thanks for this post :)
Any saying you can't complete "like the wind" Indy with the ZR1 RM is wrong but one thing your probably missing as I was is that you need soft racing tyres equipped, nowhere in the above specs does anyone mention tyres. This will enable the win. Ps cracking page really helpful tips. :)
Setting the camber at 2.0/1.0 then the trans at 261 then down force at the max on front and back then the dampers extension and compression at 10 all the way around and the spring rate at 16.6/13.4.... I beat the "like the wind" races first try on both with these settings. Every player has there own preference in how they like their cars to handle. Play with your settings and you will win. Great list HUB
I have no real experience with the ZR1, but my Z06 Works like a dream with more camber in the back.. Just sits on the tires and speeds out of the corner. There shouldn't be so much difference between the two considering it's the same base car. Great car with the right settings.
get an x1 they do nurburgring in just over 3 mins 30 seconds
Found this very useful, thanks for putting in the time and effort fella.
Is it true that you have to purchase all these cars new? I've been told they never show up as used.
Also, what's the difference between "RM" & "TC"?
Just getting my feet wet with this game, so thanks for the info.
Yes, you do have to purchase these cars new. It is unfortunate that you can't purchase them in used though. Anyway, writen4u, that brown on the camaro rm gt5 is awesome! How did you get it, and what is the color called? Also, how do you get the ctr2 and yellow bird porsches to drive tight, and not drift all the time?
I just beat like the wind with my 350z XDXDXD
I dont no how ur saying this tuning setup doesnt work on the zr1. i have it fully upgraded witg this tune allthough altered very slightly, and can do the"like the wind" easily i can stay flat out in 6th all the way around cornering at 200mph
Thanks writen4u. Kiingsi, what tuning setup do you have on the zr1?
Hi..
Excellent advise as usual,Really good post, this will help me a lot and to the others. Now I know why people like your contents.
Thanks
The TVR tuscan speed 6 is definitely worth the money. Incredibly good fun to smash about in. Although I find the steering somewhat blocky with the standard settings, which can easily be rectified with a bit of camber to the front wheels (adjusted it to 2.0 myself). Plus you get that little bit of slide from the backend, not enough to negatively effect your times, but just enough to cause maximum fun!
for the ZR1 on Like the wind-indy put the aero dynamics on full and change the trasmition to make the top speed higher. use soft tyers it hasd loads of grip after that
You sure you don't mean 850hp and not 950hp for the race nodded zr1?
the camaro zz8 is completley MENTAL!
What race did you have to do to win the 5.6 million credit Citroen?
Everyone to make it easy for your self, save about $5 mil and buy the GT F1 online and you people will win like the win and whole lots of other races easily with no struggle at all!!

jaah 16 months ago
the ZR1 cannot compete in 'like the wind' superspeedway-indy !!!!!!!!!
